Auctions offer series of obstacles. Movies and TV infomercials
usually depict foreclosure auctions as dramatic affairs - with heartbroken
homeowners, hordes of bidders and someone who gets a house for pennies
on the dollar. But in reality, most auctions attract just a handful of
people and take perhaps two minutes to complete.

At home with foreclosures. Home foreclosures are opening up big opportunities for Bay State entrepreneurs like Derek Ebrecht. "The sky's the limit if you put your mind to it," said Ebrecht, a one-time maintenance supervisor who began investing in distressed Hub properties two years ago.
